Spam of the Year Award goes to…

17 Dec 2009

Most people don’t enjoy spam. Although there are probably some fetishists who print it out and rub it against their naked flesh.

This is my favourite spam of the year. It shows contempt for grammar, vaguely tries to put you in a Christmas spirit, pretends to be your friend, and avoids making any sense. All the essential qualities of effective advertising.

Is there an advertising awards show for spam? The Spammies? With categories like ‘Best Infiltration of a Website Forum’?

Send tickets, I’d like to attend these awards and shout out random product names during their acceptance speeches.

If you’d like to support Uggby’s reverse psychology approach to advertising, here’s their shoe website.

Spambots, hard at work.

I don’t mind a little spam from time to time (bacon, eggs, spam, sausage, spam, eggs, spam and spam) but I don’t think it’s fair that the English language should be manhandled like this.

What did it ever do to you? Besides probably collonialise you (very badly by the look of it) which, let’s face it, was probably much radder than living in huts and practising cannabalism on your own dead relatives.

‘You can spend some time to visit it and.’ – yes? And what? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!

And what the hell is ‘Christams’?

@SlickTiger: That's a good point, there's also suspense in this execution. Perhaps the 'and' will be revealed next Christmas, I mean Christams. Which I believe means Christmas, but for all religions.
